Just about every day, business owners ask us what we do. It’s a difficult question to answer, because our work varies depending on each client and their needs. However, this story gives you a taste of what we’re capable of achieving.
The Greater Wilmington Business Journal hired BEM to provide design and writing support for special sections for several of their advertisers. These included PPD and The Davis Community.
To create special sections designed to help businesses educate on their newsworthy items. In several cases, these personalized inserts served as stand-alone collateral pieces beyond their distribution in GWBJ. Taking on this project required tight deadlines, a professional quality akin to the Business Journal and the capability of satisfying more than one client simultaneously.
HOW WE DID IT:
Working for the Greater Wilmington Business Journal was a unique experience for Bon’s Eye Marketing. The Journal came to us looking for a creative group of individuals who were no strangers to research and quick turnarounds to help them create a new publication. With four people on staff with journalistic experience, Bon’s Eye Marketing was the perfect match.
Throughout our time working with the Business Journal, we created numerous inserts, two of which were The Davis Community and PPD.
The Davis Community is an assisted living home that provides skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, fitness and other services. At the time, they had just expanded by building their new pavilion and were looking for greater coverage than simply an ad.
To create the spotlight insert, the Bon’s Eye Team first had to do our research. We met with The Davis Community Marketing & Community Relations Administrator to find out more about the campus. We delved deeper than just the expansion, and discussed their recent anniversary, new services and future state. After we thoroughly studied their brand, we storyboarded ideas and presented them to The Davis Community. Together, we worked to narrow down the layout concepts. Next, our professional writers started to build the story list. We interviewed staff members and stakeholders for an insider’s look at Davis’ culture and differentiators as a nursing and rehabilitation hub. Once the editorial content was fine-tuned, the entire package of visuals and words was presented to the client. The piece went on to be used in Davis’ larger marketing efforts.
Bon’s Eye took a similar approach to PPD. Over the course of two weeks, our strategy team met with key representatives from their marketing department. Again, the meetings consisted of conceptual design, messaging goals and layout strategy. Ultimately, the piece would be used to highlight the global company’s 25th anniversary and the many milestones achieved during those two-plus decades. As was the case with Davis Community, the piece was not only distributed to thousands locally via the Business Journal, but also used at marketing events.
Throughout the years, we have enjoyed collaborating with the Greater Wilmington Business Journal on various projects. It’s always offered us a chance to put our media shoes back on and to show the community the depth of our knowledge in design, writing and strategy.
