A healthy breakfast in the morning should be a priority, according to most nutritionists. However, for a portion of the ever-growing gaming community, increasing their kill streak in Call of Duty tops their personal to-do list. PWNmeal Extreme Gaming Oatmeal intertwines these very different priorities – gaming and breakfast – into one product.
From the same creative minds who brought us Cards Against Humanity (an adult-humor card game that the Bon’s Eye team admittedly enjoys from time to time) comes PWNmeal –a brand of oatmeal created specifically for gamers. PWNmeal offers themed flavors sure to appeal to their target demographic. Some flavors include Strawberries and Carnage, No Scope Headshot Blueberry and Cinnamon K/D Ratioatmeal.
The product was unveiled at PAX East 2014, a conference-style event for the gaming community. Brand presence and imaginative marketing saturate the gathering year after year.
For instance, a few years ago Cards Against Humanity surprised fans by including a dozen new cards in their PAX packs. Every year since, a handful of new cards find their way into each pack. However, this year one of the creators of the game, Max Temkin, wanted to recreate that original feeling of delight and excitement by unveiling something different.
Because the brainstorming originally began with a few of his Twitter followers, Temkin made them key players in determining the product’s overall concept and design elements. Together, they created the oatmeal brand as a sort of cover-up for this year’s cards, physically hiding them inside the bags of dusty flavored grains. Temkin was undoubtedly pleased to find out that many gamers later dug through the trash for a chance to find discarded oatmeal packets.
So where can one purchase this XBOX-inspired breakfast of champions? PWNmeal’s website claims that the “extreme p0rridge” will eventually be available at GNC and Gamestop, but the site was designed to be part of the elaborate prank. Gamers were disappointed to find out PWNmeal is only as present as the games they play. For the time being, they will have to find another source of energy to help them “re-spawn” in the morning.
