Just about every day, business owners ask us what we do. It’s a difficult question to answer, because our work varies depending on each client and their needs. However, this story gives you a taste of what we’re capable of achieving.
THE CLIENT:
Biostudy Solutions and Modoc Research Services hired BEM to design promotional materials and a display for their booth at the 2014 BIO International Convention in San Diego, CA.
THE TASK:
To create promotional materials and a display that conveyed the quality of services each company provides. Our product also had to educate prospective clients on how Biostudy and Modoc worked together. Each item needed to promote the collaboration as well as each business individually. Essentially, Bon’s Eye worked with three clients: Biostudy, Modoc and the collaboration of the two.
HOW WE DID IT:
Similar to our work with the Greater Wilmington Business Journal, we were once again tasked with pleasing more than one client simultaneously. However, this experience was unlike most others because there were two different brands that we needed to merge, yet still keep separate. Because they were collaborating, both Biostudy and Modoc wanted materials that represented their own businesses but complemented their partner’s brand as well.
Our first step was meeting with both companies. As with any new project, we wanted to find out what made them stand out among their competitors. We needed to identify their common ground before we could design a message, layout and style complimentary to both brands.
After gaining a better understanding of each business, we designed handouts that represented and blended the styles of both. We used a color scheme that incorporated Modoc’s blue and orange and Biostudy’s purple. We also tried to embody both brands in the fonts, layout, visuals, patterns, use of white space and the organization of information.
The display posed more of a challenge. Typically, the backdrop for this type of event booth features the company’s bio along with the products and/or services they provide. However, having two company bios on a seven foot poster would not be eye-catching. Instead, we designed a three-part backdrop. On two banners, we put two 20-word quotes from the Biostudy and Modoc CEOs describing what their company meant to them. By using quotes rather than bios, we still gave prospects an idea of what each business does while showcasing the companies’ different personalities. Those banners also could be used separately for the promotion of each individual company.
Overall, the booth was a success for Biostudy and Modoc. Even though the convention took place three thousand miles from Wilmington, we were able to deliver all materials days in advance. Both existing clients and new prospects at the event were impressed when they approached the booth, offering compliments and expressing interest in forming business relationships.
