In addition to quality work, education is also one of Bon’s Eye Marketing’s top priorities. This applies not only to businesses in the community but also to students in the area. Kevin, one of our amazing interns from UNCW, shares his experience with Bon’s Eye this summer in this week’s blog post.
Contrary to popular belief, every college student majoring in English is not out to write the next “Great American Novel.” There are many great career opportunities outside of literature and publishing for English majors like myself. As a summer intern at Bon’s Eye Marketing, I was able to gain valuable experience in an interesting field with plenty of opportunities for English majors.
My writing skills were stretched this summer with assignments ranging from writing press releases to ad copy. It was challenging but very rewarding. Working on a piece for a real-world client is something that is rarely experienced in a classroom.
I really enjoyed working on print advertisements that were placed in local magazines. I liked working through the process of identifying the target audience of the ad and magazine, then writing catchy headlines that appealed to both audiences.
It was also very encouraging to work with talented people who are excited about what they do. Projects like Prop Brand show how committed the Bon’s Eye team is to their work and how passionate they are about their town.
I am very thankful I had the opportunity to intern at Bon’s Eye Marketing this summer. My experience here has helped me grow as a writer and realize some of my personal professional goals.
